Disbelief over plan to close A82 during holidays

Plans for road closures between Oban and Fort William which will mean a 200-mile detour in the middle of the October holidays have been met with disbelief by a Highland politician.

Scotland Transerv is planning resurfacing work on a two-mile stretch of the A82 Inverness to Glasgow road at Onich, south of Fort William.

But the company which carries out road maintenance on behalf of the Scottish Government is proposing night time closures five days a week from Monday to Friday, from 7pm until 6am.
